Why Are ‘Google’ Representatives Continuously Bothering Google Ads Clients?
Over the past couple of years, our agency has noticed an alarming increase in cold calls and emails from individuals claiming to be Google Ads representatives, contacting our clients directly. We understand that it can be confusing and even concerning when you receive a call from someone claiming to be from Google, offering to review your account’s performance.
Here’s what you need to know:
- The calls are not coming from Google, despite the representative having an @google.com email address. They are actually from a sales company called Revana, based in India.
- These representatives often have minimal training, sometimes as little as seven days, and they read from a script during their calls.
- The primary goal of the program is to encourage you to spend more money on Google Ads and relinquish control to their automated systems.
- Unfortunately, conversions and actual results are not their top priority; instead, they are focused on increasing your daily budget.
We understand that as a client, receiving a call from someone who claims to be a Google Ads representative can be disconcerting. It may lead you to question the effectiveness of our agency and the results we deliver. We want to assure you that these calls are not from Google themselves, but rather from a third-party agency contracted by Google.
The agency responsible for these calls, previously known as Direct Alliance and now rebranded as Revana, operates independently from Google. While they may have some Google employees on-site, they are not Google employees themselves.
Former employees of the agency have revealed that their main objective is to generate new account sign-ups and increase advertising spend, rather than focusing on delivering tangible results for clients. This misalignment of priorities can create a negative impact on the performance of your Google Ads campaigns.
We share your concerns and frustrations about this situation. We believe that Google should be supporting and strengthening agency relationships, not undermining them with these misleading calls.
To address this issue:
- We will continue to stay informed and share information with other agencies to protect them from falling victim to this scheme.
- We encourage you to rely on us as your trusted agency partner and to consider this unbiased, third-party account of how the program operates.
- We will communicate our concerns with our dedicated Google agency representative, who should be attentive to the negative implications of this program on the Google Partner community.
We value our relationship with our clients and always strive to optimise your ad accounts to the highest standards, ensure they are not overspending, and deliver the results you need. If you receive one of these calls or emails, we advise you to ignore the caller and ask them to stop contacting you. Or redirect them to us.
If you have any concerns or questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us. We are here to support you and protect your best interests.
