Remarketing with Google Display Network

We tend to get a little bit excited about a wide variety of online marketing tools. After all, making sure that your website is visible and ranking well is something we strive for.

What is the Google Display Network?

A passive form of advertising, GDN is different from Search Network ads in the sense that they are more stumbled upon when surfing the web than actively searched for. These are the ads that appear at the side, bottom, or top of a website when you are researching or just casually browsing.

They often come with videos, images and other types of rich media; all designed to really catch your eye.

Facebook also offers a remarketing option, which will show your advert on Facebook and Instagram.

Why we think it is a great marketing tool

There are a variety of reasons why we think that GDN is pretty great for your advertising campaign.

One of the best parts of GDN is that it allows you to target your key audience. Have you ever been looking at a website and wondered just how they know the things you have been looking for online? This is a targeted marketing strategy.

Location and Demographic targeting

On GDN you can choose from a variety of targeting methods including location and demographic. This means that you can choose to target people who live in a certain area (perhaps one where your services/products are available or best used) and also their age range, great if your business has a particular appeal to certain parts of the population.


Remarketing is a method whereby you present a targeted ad to those people who have visited your website previously. These will then appear on their screen whilst they are visiting other websites; reminding them why they paid you a visit in the first place.

One of the other great things about GDN is that you have the power to choose where your ad appears. This is an important part of the process and you should take the time to assess different sites and whether they will be right for your business (don’t forget to look at their click rate).
