Let’s welcome in the new world of extended text Google Ads!
Here at Viva Digital we like to have our pulse firmly on the world of online marketing. So, we were pretty excited to hear that advertising, search engine and all round internet giants Google were making some huge announcements.
One of the announcements concerned Google Adwords and how they would soon be extended the text limit to 2x the current limit (that’s 140 characters rather than 25-30)!
So what does this change mean for me?
If you are the owner of a small business who currently uses Adwords for your online marketing, then you might be wondering how this change will actually effect you.
These new ads have been created with mobile search results in mind. The headline is bigger, meaning it should catch the eye of your prospective customers and it also has the space to create an extra-long description too.
What made Google change their Adwords approach?
Well, the world is definitely becoming more mobile, something that Google couldn’t fail but to notice. In fact, more than a half of all the vast numbers of the searches made on Google every year are made on a mobile device, meaning that it was about time that Google unified the experience between desktop and mobile users.
What can I do to prepare for it?
In the meantime, you might want to prepare yourself and your company for these impending changes. The first thing to do is make sure that your quality score is on the rise, which will help you to raise your position on SERP.
Next, you will need to make sure you optimise your text ads for this new format. Take advantage of the extra text and convey your business message to your customers.
Until the new Google Adwords ad formats are tested we really don’t know the impact that they will have; however, this is definitely a change that we are excited to see come in and hopefully it will have a huge impact on how businesses are seen and found online.
