Create Your Christmas Content Now
It’s just around the corner and for many businesses, Christmas is the time of year to cash in! If you sell anything online, then it becomes doubly important to have a seasonal marketing campaign to make the most of everyone’s goodwill, so here’s how to do just that!
Don’t focus solely on Christmas
This goes right against the intro up there, but read on… Not everyone is wild about Christmas and not everyone celebrates it. Everyone, however, loves a bargain, so make sure there’s something in your content to appeal to different faith groups or to just plain old grumps who hate the festive season. How about a post-Xmas Day giveaway for the brave souls who survived another family gathering? Or a Channukah special? You could also start looking to the New Year before Christmas is even over.
Get discounting
It’s what everyone is waiting for, so make sure almost every piece of content that hits your site from now on mentions a promotion, or a giveaway, a voucher or a BOGOF offer.
Try posting content at unusual times
Most people post their new content at peak times – mornings and early evenings, as well as lunchtimes. This means posts and offers can just get lost in the rush and noise – commuting, hurried lunch breaks, school runs – and forgotten. Try adding new content and sending emails later in the evening when people are relaxing and have more time to engage.
Don’t forget your blog
The Christmas holidays often means a big blog slowdown. This is good news for hard-working bloggers, but not so good for maintaining your online presence. Get a step or two ahead of the competition by continuing to post; you can prepare the content ahead if you also want some downtime. Think about it – your audience is off work so they’re more likely to read your work.
Create a Christmas hub
Don’t just do a rush job in autumn and then delete it in January. Start compiling some evergreen content that can be edited and updated according to the latest gift craze. Save product URLs and descriptions, animations, advice blogs and so on. Think about next Christmas – it’s never too early to start!
